How exciting! This article on the Western Australia Women in Dairy appeared in the latest edition of "Farmwest" magazine!
Western Australia Women in Dairy
In March of this year dairy ladies of Western Australia followed some secret directions from Delys Ravenhill to find a Secret Garden Tea House hidden within Bow Bridge.
Ladies of the Great Southern, Northcliffe and Manjimup dairy communities were successful in finding the Secret Garden. Past dairy ladies of the region attended which was great. Numbers were petite but a great day was had.
We were treated to a tour of the gorgeous Tree Elle Retreat by Kim Gardner which included her journey with establishing Tree Elle Retreat.
After the tour we settled down in the Secret Garden over morning tea thanks to Harvey Fresh and were treated to a very inspiring presentation on the Uthando Dolls project for Africa by Christene Bellanger.
Janine Phillips then spoke on her life story and the RRR - Rural, Remote and Regional Women's Network of Western Australia, another inspiring story for the day
With all this inspiration, we then ventured to the Bow Bridge store and great discussions were held in the lovely decorated dairy theme room over lunch. As an added bonus Molly Smith popped in by chance and we heard her wonderful story.
It was inspiring yet again to hear Julie Bettink’s and Julie Armstrong’s stories about the recent Northcliffe fires. Despite the somewhat scary account we were pleased they could find humour in the situation they were in.
Thank you to Delys for organising the day and those supporting businesses and speakers of the day.
We are now preparing for our next event, the ‘Pre Hay-Making Knees-Up’ on 11 September 2015 at the Princess Royal Sailing Club in Albany. This is an opportunity to get out of the gummies and wet weather gear and get some stylish gear on.
Not only are there happenings in the Great Southern at the moment, Nicole Rose is convening a catch up in the Northcliffe area in August.
Also looking at dates for one on the West Coast in the coming months and we are open to suggestion and ideas.
Check out the Women in Dairy Australia website for events occurring on the east coast of Australia.
Should you wish to know more about Western Australia Women in Dairy please do not hesitate to either contact Carolyn Lindberg or Nicole Rose, check us out on Facebook. Rob La Grange from Western Dairy is also happy to chat, the original convener of the group.
